Then take this opportunity to find relief and take part in the
Bowen Technique Knee and Ankle Study 2009
Every year the Bowen Therapists' European Register (BTER), the principal registering body for Bowen practitioners, organises a nationwide study into the effectiveness of Bowen Therapy on a specific health issue. This year the focus is on knee and ankle problems.
During May and June, Claire Phillipson, Bowen therapist at the ISHTA Centre, will be taking part in the 2009 national research study and offering special rates to local people with knee and/or ankle problems who sign up for a total of three treatments. As well as experiencing the benefits of the therapy, participants will be invited to contribute to the nationwide project by helping to record the effects of their treatment.
The Knee and Ankle Study follows previous research into the effect of Bowen on back pain (2007) and Shoulder and Neck Pain (2008) which showed that the large majority (80-90%) of people treated experienced either complete relief- or a significant improvement in their condition - after no more than three treatments. See www.bowentherapists.com/BTER/press.htm for more about previous studies.
The Bowen Technique is a gentle, drug free, non-invasive therapy. The therapist, using only thumbs and fingers, makes gentle rolling movements over muscles and tendons at precise points. The process releases energy, sending impulses to the brain to trigger the body's own healing systems. The Technique has a remarkable record of success in alleviating knee, ankle and related foot pain - often when no other treatment has provided significant relief - see www.bowentherapists.com/BTER/video1.html for a short video demonstrating the therapy.
"The knees and ankles support much of the body weight transferred through the spine and hips- they are designed very well to do so but often give problems after injury or with misalignment or postural issues elsewhere in the body. Bowen's gentle, holistic approach which rebalances and aligns the whole structure means that relief is often found to painful joints.
I took part in last year's shoulder and neck pain project with some very positive results and happy clients. I'm expecting that the knee and ankle study will encourage more people to seek help from this unique and effective therapy."
