Hayfever Remedies... In February?
Start early and take advantage of a special offer on Bowen Technique sessions at the Ishta Centre.
Though most hay fever sufferers only start to get symptoms in Spring and Summer, many therapies that can help are most effective if started early, before symptoms appear. This gives your immune system a chance to adjust well before the main onslaught of allergens. The Bowen Technique is effective both at relieving symptoms and also helping the body to cope better during the pollen season. It can reduce sensitivity and, with regular treatment, often gives an ongoing improvement from year to year. It's been shown to help for sufferers from hay fever, asthma and respiratory problems in general. Bowen is a gentle, natural and non-invasive complementary therapy. It has been shown to help many clients with a very wide range of conditions including chronic back pain, frozen shoulder, sports injuries, whiplash, migraine, hay fever, asthma, IBS, fertility matters and a host of other health issues. Bowen is also an excellent healing tool in the pre/post natal and pre/post-operative periods. It consists of gentle rolling movements over muscles and tendons at precise points. The process releases energy, sending impulses to the brain to trigger the body's own healing systems and is suitable for all age groups, including newborn babies and the very elderly. A useful regime for those with hay fever has been found to be an initial series of 3-4 treatments spaced weekly to introduce the body to Bowen and have an overall balancing effect on the system. The treatment is holistic and so other issues such as muscular pain, shoulder, neck and back problems can also be addressed. This is most effective started in late winter or early spring before the individual's respiratory problems appear. Regular monthly sessions keep things in balance until the main hay fever season when weekly treatment is again advisable. Once those weeks are past the sessions drop back to a 4-8 weekly top-up until nearing the following year's high pollen season. Success StoriesP. had had hay fever for about 9 years with symptoms from February to September each year. She was taking a natural remedy daily to relieve symptoms. During the course of 3 sessions in July there was little change though her sciatica improved. However, during the week after the last treatment P. forgot to take her remedy and having no symptoms decided to continue without it. She was delighted to find that the hay fever remained at bay and a holiday in Corsica (full of the pollens that affect her) was trouble free. Tom, a 47 year-old man, had suffered from wheeziness since his 30's which required the use of an inhaler with exertion in cold weather or when he was exposed to allergens such as dust, smoke, dog hair or perfumes. After 3 treatments his rate of attacks reduced significantly and after further, regular maintenance treatments his inhaler use dropped to almost zero with only occasional problems with excessive exposure to allergens. "Despite pollen levels being high I've had much better nights and am off medication" A. Aged 50.
