Sacred Dance
Sacred Dance is about unity, the simple joy of being in harmony with a circle of dancing people, moving as one. It can be slow and meditative; faster and energising; lyrical and relaxing; always beautiful. We can experience this unity physically, mentally, emotionally, socially and spiritually. PhysicallyBy using our bodies in this gentle way we encourage all of our parts to work together. This increases our balance, poise and grace. MentallyDancing in this way encourages unity between the hemispheres of the brain. It tones and strengthens the nervous system and charges the so-called brain battery. EmotionallyIt is very easy to feel fragmented in today's modern world. We have to be so many different things to many different people. Dancing in this way brings all the disparate parts of our personalities together once again. SociallySacred Dance infuses feelings of community within those taking part. It can also help us to feel at one with the animal, vegetable and mineral kingdoms of our beautiful planet enabling us to find our place in the web of life. SpirituallySacred Dance can help us to feel at one with the creative source behind the manifest universe. Although at each dance session different elements may have the main focus, all five elements are always present, to a greater or lesser extent. This means that participants are free to engage with as many, or as few of those elements that they want to. This makes the dance very accessible to everyone. For more information go to Allyn's Web Site.
WeekendIn June , 26th to 28th, I will be running a long weekend of Scared Dance called 'The Myth of Fingerprints' It will be held at Burton Manor College, which is a beautiful country house overlooking the river Dee. It is known for its yummy food and lovely surroundings. Weather permitting we will be dancing outside in the grounds. For more information about Burton Manor click here. Book direct with the college or ask Allyn for more details.
The Myth of Fingerprints.
The Myth of Fingerprints is the myth that we are all different. I believe that it was the myth of fingerprints which set us off down the road of isolation. We are more similar than we are different. Every one in the world wants the same things, such as being able to provide for their family; to live in peace; to earn a living in a dignified and fulfilling way; for their children to be healthy and successful etc. However, what those things actually mean can vary widely depending on which culture you are part of. Never-the-less we all want the same things in life. Remember you are unique just like everyone else.
This dance weekend will celebrate our similarities and focus on unity.
This will be a great way to spend the weekend.
Why not try something new and wonderful?
Not Sacred Dance but a great dance video nonethenless A fantastic act of general weirdness perpetrated on the unsuspecting users of Antewerp station on the 23rd of March this year by 200 dancers. There should be more of this sort of thing to brighten up people's days in an unexpected way.
