Parlez Vous?French health minister warns on mobile phone health hazards. This is a press release from 30th January 08 which has finally made it to us.
In a broadcast screened on all major French TV channels the French Government's Health Minister this month issued a stern warning against allowing children to use mobile phones for long duration calls. The broadcast graphically demonstrated the distance into the brain penetrated by radiations from by cellphones, and advised that calls should not exceed six minutes.
This is the first time that any Western Government has formally warned the public to abandon ICNIRP* guidelines regarding cellphone exposures. ICNIRP do not give any advice about radiations weaker than those able actually to burn tissues.
The warning follows hard on the heels of an Emergency Conference organised by Coghill Research Laboratories of Pontypool in November at the Royal Society which called for immediate downward revision to the ICNIRP Guidelines, and presented evidence from scientists around the world that excessive long term cell phone use could result in brain tumours and other disturbances of the body's vital processes.
Only last week a new joint study by the world-famous Karolinska Institute, Wayne State University, and MIT reported that cellphoning late at light resulted in sleep disturbance, and loss of the deeper sleep needed for repairing tissue cells.
The president of France's AFSSET, an independent but state-funded environmental and safety watchdog group, put it simply: parents should not give small children cell phones. "Since they aren't capable of limiting their use of the telephone, parents should not buy them mobile phones," Michele Froment-Vedrine said. Roger Coghill, a biologist specialising in bioelectromagnetics who has long advised limiting cellphone calls to five minutes, commented: "It is encouraging to hear that the French at least have at last taken on board the message of many world-class scientists. I only hope that the UK Health Protection Agency will now concede the urgent need to protect our younger population at least from these invisible but insidious radiations, and follow the example set by France, China, Russia and Israel".
Coghill's laboratory reported last year that such radiations cause a build-up of damaging free radicals in the cerebrospinal fluid ("CSF"), and has developed a powerful anti-oxidant food supplement based on natural plants to scavenge the damaging agents. The supplement, Asphalia, is already stocked in over 250 UK health food stores.
