Organic Food versusNon-Organic Food
A documentary aired this week about the health claims of so-called super foods, probiotic drinks and organic food. As usual we then got a load of depressingly stupid articles in the press about it saying that organic food is a con and not worth the money etc.
Can they be any more idiotic?
The point has never been that organic food is better for you. The point is that non-organic food is worse for you. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to understand this. Non-organic food is contaminated with pesticide residues, herbicide residues, growth hormone residues and antibiotic residues, to name just four. Do you really want to be putting all that into your body or your children's bodies?
You know there's an old political saying that if you can get them to ask the wrong question it doesn't matter what the answer is. These people constantly ask the wrong question.
What is the right question?
I believe that the problem arises with the labelling of food. Organic food is natural food; it should just be called food. It's the non-organic food that should be differentiated with a label. It should be labelled 'Contaminated Food'. Then let's see how much of it sells. Animals aren't stupid enough to eat contaminated food, but industrial agriculture seems to think we are.
So the question shouldn't be 'Why is organic food so expensive?' The question should be 'Why is contaminated food so cheap?'
When you phrase any question accurately enough they usually answer themselves.
