This is a fantastic novel by Jonathan Coe.
It's a cross between a murder mystery in the style of Cluedo, a spy novel, political rant, social satire and comedic farce.

I was clearing out some bookshelves recently and found this gem from 1994. I remembered how much I enjoyed it so read it again. It seems as fresh and pertinent now as it did then. I've kept it. I'm going to read it again in another 10 years.

This would be a great holiday read. The novel will entertain and educate you about how politics, banking, the media, factory farming, the arms trade and foreign policy really work. If that's not enough there are some laugh-out-loud moments too. You will never use the word "brio" again without sniggering.
