The Principia Discordia
A couple of issues ago I casually mentioned in an article that my favourite religion was the Paratheo-Anametamystikhood of Eris Esoteric.
Well, a couple of people have asked me about this so I thought that it might be time to introduce you to their great scriptural book.
It is called "Principia Discordia: How I Found Goddess And What I Did To Her When I Found Her" Written by Malaclypse the Younger and Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst.
Out of print for many years it now turns out that a sumptuous hard-back
edition has just
A religion disguised as a joke disguised as a religion
To give some flavour of the book, here is the third commandment of the Pentabarf "The Discordian is prohibited from believing what she reads."
These profoundly entertaining scriptures come close to rivalling James Robinson's edition of the Nag Hammadi Library as the most important contribution to 20th century metaphysics. And not only for those who consider Discordianism as a form - albeit a weird one - of Gnosticism.
