Clare Dobie

Acupuncturist & Medical Herbalist

Clare Dobie

My initial training was in western herbal medicine; I graduated in 1991 and have been practising since then. Subsequently I completed a 3 year course in acupuncture at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, and for the last 10 years I have used both herbal medicine and acupuncture in my practice.

I use acupuncture and herbal medicine as separate therapies, or combine them; depending on the wishes of the patient and on what I feel is the best approach for each individual.

In Chinese medicine health is seen as a state of positive well being. All 'levels' of being; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, are important. It is this comprehensive approach that I love about the Chinese view of health and disease. During my time in practice I have found that both acupuncture and herbal medicine can promote well-being in this holistic sense.

As well as practising, I teach both western and Chinese medicine at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading. I am a member of the British Acupuncture Council and adhere to their codes of ethics and codes of practice. I am also a member of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA), an organisation which promotes the use of ear acupuncture for the treatment of addiction.
